October Charms at Petco

I am always up for a trip to Marion and a visit to petco!

Me and brother dressed in our howl-o-ween best

Sammy rode on the buggy, got lots of loving and enjoyed seeing all the stuff.

As we were shopping we came to the costume aisle we decided to try a few on him.  Not sure he enjoyed it as much as we did...but you live here you gotta dress up!  Its a rule!

hmmm... Not sure any of these are right fur him.  We shall keep looking.

Since he is a harmless old man I decided that he should try something a bit tougher...

Oh yes he looks fierce!

After we were finished playing we got the October charms and headed out!

Momma while grandma is in the store can I come up there with you?

Ahh....Sniffing air!  I smell dogs, racoons, and steak!

Sammy was so tired he slept the entire way home and didnt make a peep.

Sammy's Dental Day

Once I got Sammy home I knew his teeth had to be cleaned.  However I didn't want him to have to spend the day there or be put in a cage so I talked to Melissa and asked her if I could just stay there with him.  She said of course and I was relieved!

So 2 weeks after he came home I drove him to the vet clinic on my day off to have his teeth cleaned.

Why is I back heres.  I wanna lives wiff yous!

He sat on the treatment table with his tail tucked and when he heard a kennel door close...he whipped his head around!  I think it scared him.  Then I know it was so worth it to stay there with him!!!

He had to be weighed so he could get his premed injection.  He is a whole 6.4 lbs.

Melissa asked if I could handle him while he got the premed.  He didn't even flinch at it.  Then she asked if I could handle helping hold him so she could tube him.  Yep no problem.  She masked him then we tubed him and he was under.

Before she began the dental she microchipped him.

Here is his before.  Yucky brown toofers.

Here is the after picture.  Pretty pearly whites!

He cried after he came off the anesthesia and that was hard to hear.  But after a minute he calmed down and gave me a tongue shot!

Once he was checked by Dr. Flanary he was released and we went home to let him sleep it off!

I bet his mouth feels better now.

At least I have another month before his vaccinations are due so he doesn't have to go back for a while.

Clinic Dogs Maddie and Fancy

For the October Newsletter we were themeing it Seniors.  So Maddie Flanary being the mature doggie she is was going to paw it herself.  Way cool!  The pictures we needed to do were of her "taking" her senior tests.

We had here the urine cup and blood vials.

Next was x-ray

Then the EKG

Since I had my camera out I decided to take pictures of Maddie and Fancy "working"

Here they are supervising me in the kennels

Maddie checking the yard

"Welcome furiends to Flanary Vet Clinic!!!"

And a photo of Maddie getting her bath for the "Spa Pictures" on our facebook page.

Petsitting

The petsitting business has really been going strong.

The Stark Family has booked multiple times and I am glad cause the Stark dogs are the best!

Leah

Opie

Bella

I pet sat for a Guinea  Pig named GP

 And his brother Bugsy

Then we had the McLellan Booking which was another great family to pet sit for.

Bama the ex-racing greyhound

One ear up and one ear down!

Lollipop the Shih tzu mix

and Casey the lab

While Bama and Lollipop were calm and laid back Casey was full of life and spunk!

I booked an "At home pet sitting" and our guests were Mac and Miley the Schnauzers

Miley was scared but sweet as punch!

Mac was cool, calm and laid back.

The Morrisons booked quite a few weekends and I can't get enough of the howling!

I did manage to get all 5 hounds in one shot.

Then Moo Moo and Trinity decided it was supper time!

The Ansell cats were next on my pet sitting list.

There were 5 in all

 But some were camera shy

Last but not least we have the Reynolds booking.  Daisy....

...and Thelma Lou

Each petsitting teaches me something and this particular one I learned how to give insulin to a diabetic dog.  It was easy and as long as she had her wet food she didn't even mind.

Whew!  Thats alot of pet sitting.  And today I rebooked the Ansell cats and booked 4 chihuahuas for "At home Petsitting" for a weekend in NOV.

Fun First Week of October

October is here and so is some cooler weather and I LOVE IT!

In the kennels...

At the back of one of the big kennels in a door that leads to the grate in the back.  It has to be cleaned.  So I let Chomper out of his kennel and headed back.

I turn around and what do I see yes Chomper behind me "helping".  As you can see its only lab size wide....not alot of room for both of us bud.

After some time he became board of this game and headed out.

Squeaky Zoey

Petey and Pixie Pie

Since its Fall Break week here I got a taxi call.  I picked up Zeke the lab and

Blue the Maltese.  I almost took him home with me.  He is just so cute with his little ears and fuzzy hair!  OH MY!

Fall break =  lots of kennel dogs

Extra full cubbys and even extending to the floor below!

I got to care for a mange pup and give her a Mitabin Dip.  She has Demodex Mange and I hope this bath gave her some relief and will clear up her mange.

Tonka came in for a bath and vaccinations.  Such a sweet pibble!

Seems like we have had a lot of huskies and that led to...

Mass ciaos and fluffy tails!

I even brought my own dogs in.  Uncle had a bad upset tummy and got some meds and Bobo was due for his bi-yearly Kennel cough vaccine.  Neither were happy about that!

Last but not least we have a new program offering further education about various vet topics.  For each one we complete we get a bonus.  So I am up for some learning!
