A Boneafide Product Review: Outward Hound Pet Sling

Even though we are in TN we will still be doing a review today. Here we go!

Todays review is of the Outward Hound Pet Sling. It is avaliable at Petsmart online and Petsmart in store for $29.99.

Momma saw this product at Petsmart and thought this would be perfect for some of the foster dogs we have so she bought one last year. At the time we didn't have any foster dogs (how was that possible) so Mollie was the gunea pig. Mollie hung in there...BOL...long enough for momma to see if she would like it. The results were no for the following reasons:

-The strap is made of nylon fabric so it is itchy on mommas neck and shoulder.
-There is no padding in the strap.
-No padding in the "hammock/pouch".
-The "Hammock/Pouch" is very shallow.

This product might work for very tiny dogs.

Momma did end up returning this product and purchasing one that is made for human babies. It has padding in the strap and a padded bottom so its much comfier for both dog and human. Momma loves this for the puppies as she can have them close and still work on the computer.

The official grade for the Outward Hound Pet Sling is an F.

Thanks so much for the review. Mama really wants to get one of these so she can carry Bilbo around...Bilbo keeps telling Daddy not to let her cause he doesn't WANT to be carried around. Now we know NOT to get this one anyway...

  6. You have no idea how much my M appreciated today's post. She's been wondering about those and she's been tempted. She needs an extra hand so she's looking for a solution. She found a (wait, let me find the info) ...
Ok, the Unisex Circle Scarf from American Apparel. She hasn't tried it yet, but she thinks that may work too.

  7. We've seen things like this before. We dont' really need them with the cats but I have always wondered about them. Although mom did think it could be fun for us if we were in a really snuggly mood and she needed to do stuff!

    Thanks for the review!

  8. Good review guys - our mum reckons she will pass right enough as she doesn't fancy having a basset draped over her shoulder!

  9. This product is probably meant for a pup the size of Captain, 6 pounds, but I doubt he would sit it in calmly!

  10. Hi guys!! Sorry we haven't been by for so long! Thanks for you comments on our bloggie! Too funny that you reviewed the sling, 'cuz mom was just talking about one last weekend. She ends up carrying me most of the time at trials (apparenly I get in too much trouble on the ground), and she was saying it would be nice to have a pouch to put me in! Considering that I currently weigh 26.5 lbs, I guess this is definitely NOT the one for us! Thanks for taking the time to post about it!

  11. I have a baby pouch I bought at BabiesRUs - it's not ergonomically correct for a dog, but it works ... has the padded shoulder and it soft.
I don't use it much at all though.

  12. Sob! Another product that discriminates against full sized doggies! I bet it doesn't come in my size.

  13. Thanks for the review - don't think we will have much use for one of those here, even the little one is too heavy to carry around for very long. But it is nice to know what works and what doesn't.

  14. Thanks for this review. Mom has been thinking Banjo might like riding in a sling when we go to flea markets and such. Now she knows this isn't the one to buy.
