Fellow Bloggers I Need Your Opinions

After much research I am going to start making my own custom hand sewen collars for Mollie and Bobo. I am going to make a few to sell (local flea market/eBay) along with the ones I make for Mollie and Bobo. Personally I like shorter leashes (3 foot) for my poodles. My questions to you is would you purchase a 3 ft. leash? Do you prefer 4ft / 5ft / 6ft / other. Please explain. Thanks!

  1. I like the six foot because I can wrap it up in my hand for when I need it short and I can extend it for when I want long (say if I am sitting in a lawn chair and want to let Chloe sit a little farther from me on the grass). But I do not like a flexi leash, so 6' gives me options plus control.

  2. We never use anything shorter than 6' regardless of the size of the dog. Hope that helps.

  5. We have a four foot leash for Lady and Sophia and a six foot one for Einstein. I like Lady and Sophia's four foot leashes better because it provides just the right amount of slack on walks and is less likely to get tangled.

  6. I like at least a 6 foot leash for Dory, but a 3 foot for Bilbo.

Bilbo needs to be walked at heel while, if Dory is being a good girl, I will let her wander a bit.

Also an ANTI flex leash gal...to much room for people/dog/visitor injury...

Good luck, and make sure to show us some when you are done!!

  7. Hi Dory,

Sounds like a fun project! Can't wait to see the new collars.

Mom likes a 4'leash when walking us on separate leashes, but uses a 6' leash when walking us together with the coupler she made.

  8. We use the six foot leash but Mom says it may be shorter or longer than that. Ours are leather and it stretches. So as you may have noticed in some of our walking videos or photos, they have lots of knots in them. Mom ties the knots when she thinks it it too long. Whatever, we say let's just forget the leash and go go go.

Good luck with your new project.

  9. I personally prefer a 4 foot leash for my small dogs, I have much more control with it.

And I'm looking forward to seeing the collars! Are you going to make any for teeny dogs like Lilibell? (Chewy's not so teeny anymore, haha)

  11. (From Fi's Mom) We use a short leash (2-3 feet) when Fi is in 'Time Out' (we hook the leash to a door handle in a back hallway, and when she gets out of hand she goes there for a minute or two at the most) - and couldn't actually find one - I had to make one out of a longer leash. For walking though, we use a 6 footer. Can't wait to see the collars!

  12. The ones we like best are the 3-4 foot range. You have a couple of collar addicts as followers, you know - could always do some beta testing for you LOL!!
