Story Telling Saturday

We were up early to get to the Graves Co. Shelter to spring Abby(coonhound) and Sammy(beagle/brittany pup). We loaded up and were on the road by 8am. My mom drove and I did the puppy wrangling in the back seat. Sammy was just a sweet loving little boy and sat calmly sat beside me and slept for most of the ride. Abby...oh my....Abby....What can I say about Abby...She first started digging in my transport bucket trying to get at the milk bones. Once she ate a few of those she became intrested in eating collars. I moved the bucket up into the empty front seat. She then saw an umbrella in the back window and decided it looked like a good snack. After trying for 20 minutes to pry that out of her mouth she then started digging in the floor board and soon came up with the floor mat in her mouth. Once I took that away and put it in the now full front seat I decided that she could chew on a leash at least that would keep her busy. 10 minutes later she had chewed one up and it was laying in the seat in 3 different pieces. OH MY! Finally we arrived in Mt. Vernon, IL and met Deb. Deb had a small bucket of water to give the dogs and when they were done drinking Abby picked up the bucket and dumped the remaining water and trotted off to play with her new found toy. Currently they are almost home...They only have about 1 hr and 45 min. to go.

Here is whats left of my leash...

My overnights....

Well we really don't know what happened at the shelter but the doggies that we supposed to have originally did not make it. I do know some made it to rescue but we don't know about the others. So Momma Mia and Peter (I named them) took their place. At least we are having an easy night with one pup and one momma. They are very small and very sweet. Momma is very scared but is comming out of her shell. Peter is terrified of the outside world and will try and hide in the grass. In any case two lives were saved!

  2. Thank you for helping those doggies. My Mom said that I was just like Abby when I first came to live here. I don't know what she is talking about. We both love the pictures
